Chaldean Patriarch and Unity with Assyrian Church of the East

Since the election of the Chaldean Patriarch Mar Raphael Louis Sako. He has continually spoken about Christian unity. This along with his refusal to maintain traditional liturgy and dress (he has refused to wear his Chaldean "Shash") has made many people uncomfortable.

More recently Mar Sako sent a birthday greeting to Mar Dinkha IV of the Assyrian Church of the East and has stated quite bluntly that they both should work towards full unity as soon as possible. Apparently Mar Sako also stated that if there is to be full unity the Assyrian Church of the East would need to be in full communion with Rome.

If this is the case, the difference between this attempt at Unity. Compared with many others (but not all) attempts at unity, is that the what is different between the two churches is the area which must be worked on. Rather than the what is the same.

Mar Sako is now waiting for the reply of Mar Dinkha. Please pray that these steps will be beneficial.
